Sag Harbor Village Police Reports for the Week of December 5

SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Village Police received a report on Thanksgiving morning that there was a possible break-in at a Hillside Drive West residence, where it appeared that the front door had been kicked in. An officer investigated and found that the house has been abandoned and is derelict. The door was slightly ajar, the officer reported, with some damage to the frame, but the interior, which the officer noted is unsafe to enter, was unoccupied. Police forwarded the report to the responsible agencies to ensure that the building is condemned and secured to prevent anyone from entering it.

SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — A Main Street resident reported to police that a cat she had been feeding for some time had gone missing for the past couple of weeks. The cat, the woman told police, is named Little Rocky. Little Rocky is a thin white cat, the woman told police, with gray markings and is missing one eye.

SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Police received a report Friday evening that there were cars parked illegally on Meadow Street. An officer investigated the complaint and confirmed that there were two vehicles, parked outside of designated parking areas, and issued each a summons.

SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — A report of gunshots in the area of Harding Terrace and Taft Place was investigated by Village Police on Sunday morning. The officer observed that there were two hunters out on the water, but they were actually in East Hampton Town jurisdiction. Hunting season for waterfowl was still active on Sunday, which was the last day until December 7, when such activity can resume through January 26.

SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Ice cream all over the windshield was the complaint police investigated on Sunday. A resident came into headquarters on Division Street on Sunday afternoon and reported that the previous evening he had parked in front of Sag Harbor Cinema between 8 and 9:30 p.m. and that when he returned to his vehicle, the windshield was covered with ice cream. The investigating officer confirmed that there was still some ice cream left on the windshield and checked local surveillance video but was unable to determine who actually put the ice cream there.

SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Loud music on Hampton Street was the complaint police received a little before midnight on Friday. The officer dispatched to the scene found no music audible from the street in front of the property in question. A resident of that property told the officer that he had accidentally turned on the exterior speakers earlier, but had since turned them off.

SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Police were called to Richards Drive a little after 4 a.m. on Saturday to respond to a complaint that light was shining through a window on the caller’s house from a neighboring house. Police investigated but found no code violations on the property in question but did forward the complaint to the code enforcement department.

SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Police received a report Saturday of a leaf blower being used near the intersection of East Union and Rysam streets. The officer dispatched to investigate the complaint located the property where the leaf blower was being used and informed the person using the blower that village code prohibits such activity on Saturdays. The blower was turned off and no further action was taken.
