Wölffer’s Summer in a Bottle Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Known for its vibrant flavors and iconic packaging, Summer in a Bottle Rosé has captured the essence of the East End, winning the hearts of wine enthusiasts of all ages. Now, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Summer in a Bottle, Wölffer Estate Vineyard has released Summer in a Bottle Sauvignon Blanc 2023.
Long Island’s reputation is built on its unique terroir and commitment to quality, with Sauvignon Blanc as a shining example of the region’s excellent conditions for viticulture. Wölffer pays homage to this celebrated varietal, which has become a staple in wine regions all over the world. While hot growing climates are getting hotter, Wölffer benefits from its locale. Sagaponack’s proximity to the ocean means a cooler climate which guarantees freshness, and its latitude of 40.9 degrees provides ample sunlight and puts the region at an advantage to compete with the best Sauvignon Blancs in the world.
“Summer in a Bottle Sauvignon Blanc is clean, crisp and bright, yet focused and ripe,” says Roman Roth, winemaker and partner at Wölffer Estate Vineyard. “Our favorable climate and soil, combined with our diligent and fine-tuned vineyard management and commitment to consistency and quality is what sets Wölffer Estate apart.”
Wölffer has been working with this varietal for over 14 years producing both the Estate Sauvignon Blanc and the White Horse Antonov. The Summer in a Bottle Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is 97 percent Sauvignon Blanc from five specific blocks and 3 percent Pinot Blanc.
In anticipation of the growing demand for Sauvignon Blanc and a global appetite for food-friendly, cooler climate, crisp, lively wines, Wölffer Estate Vineyard has made investments in 9.5 acres of the Sauvignon Blanc Musque Clone and is working closely with other partnering vineyards on the North Fork of Long Island. This strategic initiative underscores the winery’s confidence in the potential of Sauvignon Blanc and its commitment to meeting the evolving preferences of wine enthusiasts.
According to Wine Business Monthly, Sauvignon Blanc is the only varietal of the top 10 sold by retailers to show growth last year in both sales value (up 6 percent) and volume (up almost 2 percent).
