The area of Lazy Point is one of the most erosion prone regions of the town, thanks to decades old manmade structures and the digging of a new inlet to Napeague Harbor, that have interrupted the natural flow of sand along the shoreline, experts say. A house at the end of Mulford Lane, just a few hundred yards east of the Bay View Avenue homes, has been completedly undermined and its abandoned skeleton sits permanently perched above the waters of Gardiners Bay.
