The indie-rock songwriter Torres makes her East End debut at The Church in a concert on Thursday, August 1, at 6 p.m. Audiences are invited to come hear a solo set from this artistically self-aware artist who defies conventional standards of popular music and delivers contemplative and authentic tones.
Torres is the pseudonym of Mackenzie Scott. She has been releasing albums and performing under the moniker since 2013. Originally from Macon, Georgia, she moved from Nashville to Brooklyn following the release of her debut album, where she still resides with her wife, Jenna, and stepson Silas. Her sixth studio album, “What an Enormous Room,” was delivered in January via Merge Records, and she has toured extensively across the US and Europe in support of the record.
Treating songwriting as a craft and more than just an art form, Torres began redefining her skills as she separated from the polished commercial songwriting she learned in university and began carving out her own unique sound. Check out her latest album “What an Enormous Room” on Spotify and learn why with over 70,000 listeners, Torres is on the rise.
Tickets to the performance are $30 ($25 members) and $15 for students and youth 18 and under. The Church is at 48 Madison Street in Sag Harbor. For information, visit thechurchsagharbor.org.
