Claire Watson joins The Church, 48 Madison Street, Sag Harbor, on Sunday, July 21, at 10:30 a.m. for Insight Sunday to discuss select works from her “With Kid Gloves” series. The visual artist, who is known to take common materials and present them in new and unexpected ways, will discuss this selected body of work and more. Following the behind the scenes look at the creation of the pieces, Claire will host a Q&A with the audience.

Watson’s work can be viewed as part of the exhibition “Are You Joking – Women & Humor,” during gallery hours at The Church, Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Claire Watson is a visual artist whose work spans four decades and encompasses drawing, sculpture, and mixed-media constructions from found materials. Her recent work is based on the use of salvaged, disassembled leather clothing. Born in Amarillo, Texas, Claire earned a BFA in painting from the University of Texas in Austin, and an MFA in Sculpture from Tyler School of Art in Rome and Philadelphia. She’s currently based in New York City and eastern Long Island, where she raised two sons with her husband, artist Stephen Laub.
