Graham Moyse of East Hampton died on November 15 at Southampton Hospital following a short illness. He was 71.

He was born in London in 1953 as the youngest of three siblings. His father was a police officer and his mother a housekeeper. After finishing school in the U.K., he felt the urge to discover the world and sailed the Greek islands. His passion and love for the ocean, boating and fishing was always an important part of his life.

In the early 1970s, he came to the United States via transatlantic sailboat. He started working in the horticulture industry and moved to Maryland, where he continued to work in interior commercial landscaping. He started his own successful company in that field and continued with it until 2000, when he and his wife Carol moved to East Hampton.

In East Hampton, Moyse continued his professional career as a builder and ran his own business, GB Builders. He was a very talented craftsman and worked as a general contractor on many beautiful house projects.

After having lived most of his adult life in the United States, his naturalization in 2014 was a very proud and joyful moment for him. He celebrated this day with his family and close friends. For them, Moyse was a dear, loyal and inspiring companion. His great sense of humor, his infectious loud laughter and his love for the outdoors will always be remembered fondly. He was generous, kind and funny and he loved to share his love and passion for boating and fishing with his family and friends.

His various interests, such as in history and archeology, made him an entertaining counterpart. He liked to come up with interesting insights and topics which he liked to share and discuss passionately. Moyse loved music, campfires on the beach and his beautiful yard. He and his wife opened their hearts and their home to the most interesting people where they created new friendships.

He is survived by his wife Carol Canty Moyse; his son Jedd Canty and wife Dara; three grandchildren, Jameson, Liam and Declan; his sister Janet of Cornwall, England; as well as his cherished boating, fishing and building pals.

A memorial is planned for late spring.
